Nine years ago today, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law.
And for the past nine years, Republicans have done everything they can to try to tear it down.
They couldn’t get the votes to repeal it outright. But they’ve chipped away at it, sabotaged it from inside the Trump administration, given giant health insurance companies more wiggle room to leave tricks and traps for people in the fine print, and denied their own constituents live-saving health coverage by refusing to expand Medicaid.
Today, Republicans are still trying to strangle the Affordable Care Act in lawsuits and roll back health coverage for tens of millions of Americans.
But Democrats are ready to fight back even harder. We’ll protect the Affordable Care Act — and we’ll make sure everyone gets high-quality, affordable health care with Medicare for All.
That’s because health care is a basic human right, and we fight for basic human rights.
Let’s make sure everyone is covered. Let’s make sure nobody goes broke because of a medical bill. No more fighting with insurance companies.
This is a goal worth fighting for, and I’m in this fight all the way. Add your name if you agree that health care is a basic human right.
