Trump — along with his corporate cronies and deep-pocketed lobbyists — has been hiring organizers in battleground states and running a record number of digital ads.
The following message is a part of our 2020 Presidential Candidate Series. For more information, see below.
$200 million. That’s how much Donald Trump and the RNC have already raised for his reelection this year. All of that with the general election still more than a year away.
I recently announced my candidacy for president, and while I’ve been traveling across the country and sharing my plans to put political power back in the hands of the American people, Mr. Trump — along with his corporate cronies and corrupt lobbyists — has been hiring organizers and preparing to launch a sweeping field program on the ground in battleground states.
The fact is the Democratic Party’s eventual nominee is relying on the DNC to hand over a strong party operation the moment the general election begins. That means we need to fully fund the Democratic Unity Fund now.
The folks over at DNC HQ are working tirelessly to build and grow the 2020 programs necessary to keep pace with the GOP’s machine. Our eventual nominee will need a well-resourced DNC to have any chance at winning back the White House, which is why I’m asking:
Would you make a $10 donation to my campaign and the DNC’s Democratic Unity Fund? Every bit of support for the DNC will help build the strong party infrastructure Democrats need to win up and down the ticket in 2020.
If you’ve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be split evenly between Tom Steyer’s campaign for president and the DNC.
We can’t just win the White House if we want to get anything done in the years ahead. Together, we’ll need to maintain control of the House and flip the Senate. Winning Democratic majorities in those chambers and all the way down the ticket requires the Democratic Party heavily investing in the infrastructure to spread our message, mobilize voters, and get out the vote nationwide. No other party committee or organization is in a position to make that happen across the country, up and down the ballot.
I’m running for president because I have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with Trump. But no Democrat will be able to fix this country’s broken political system on their own — they’ll need a strong DNC at their side to help elect progressive governing partners in offices up and down the ticket, all across the country.
The DNC is the only official party committee tasked with electing Democrats from the state house to the White House. Donald Trump and his band of corrupt allies are raising a historic amount of money so that they can try to rig the system further in favor of the rich and powerful. We simply can’t let that happen, Michael.
P.S. Whoever becomes our eventual Democratic nominee will need the full force of the Democratic Party with them to beat Trump and return power to the American people. That’s why I’m asking: Can you donate $10 to my campaign and the DNC’s Democratic Unity Fund today?
Our 2020 Presidential Candidate Series is just one way we’re working to help our supporters hear directly from the Democratic candidates for president.
Sending fundraising emails like this one is a component of our Democratic candidates’ agreement with the DNC to share access to the DNC’s database of voter records. As a part of our agreement, every candidate who signs on sends the same number of emails to the DNC’s list, with proceeds going to a combination of the DNC and the candidate’s campaign. If you’re wondering why you’re not hearing from your preferred candidate, we may have already sent emails on their behalf or have plans to do so in the future, or they may not have signed on yet.
The DNC is committed to running a fair and transparent primary. This organization is powered by you, and we’d love to hear your ideas. Just reply to this email to send any comments, criticisms, or feedback. Our community management team reads every message from supporters like you. Thanks for supporting our party!
