Happy International Women\u2019s Day!<\/strong>

I want to celebrate by letting you know I filed my paperwork to run for a full term as your secretary of state! <\/span><\/span>
\"Weber<\/a><\/span><\/center>Will you help me celebrate this first step for our campaign with a contribution?<\/a><\/u><\/strong>CONTRIBUTE TODAY \u00bb<\/a>As California\u2019s first Black woman Secretary of State, it\u2019s always been my top priority to protect all our state\u2019s voices. Women were withheld from our nation’s founding promise of equality for too long. This is particularly true for Black women who experienced both sexism and racism when fighting for access. Even with the protections of the 19th Amendment and the Voting Rights Act, women\u2019s voices are still underrepresented in the halls of leadership.

We only make up a little over a quarter of members of Congress, and of fifty states, only nine have female governors. Both these statistics are records for female representation!

We can change this with our votes. I have always said that voting is our great equalizer. Our votes are worth equal measure regardless of gender, and with the power of voting comes the power to choose your representation.

It\u2019s been the honor of my career to represent the voters of California, and I hope you\u2019ll join my campaign to continue as your chief elections officer. <\/span>JOIN MY 2022 CAMPAIGN \u00bb<\/a>When I reflect on my historic position, I\u2019m reminded of the inspiring words of Vice President Kamala Harris, \u201cI may be the first\u2026 but I won\u2019t be the last!\u201d
