I am saddened, horrified, and angry about the mass shootings that took place in Gilroy, California, El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio this past week that left dozens killed and many more injured.
I am saddened to see so many innocent Americans have their lives taken away from them by murderers with access to dangerous assault weapons of war that have no place in our society.
I am horrified by the hateful ideologies of white supremacy, xenophobia, and misogyny that have festered in our country, which seem to clearly have been the motivating factors in these domestic terrorist attacks.
I am angry that our Congressman Devin Nunes and our President Donald Trump have helped enable these attacks because of their support for the NRA’s dangerous agenda and their empowerment of hateful online communities that inspired these shooters.
In Congress, I promise to do all I can to fight back against the spread of white supremacist ideology and to push for long overdue commonsense reforms to our nation’s gun laws.
