Just a short while ago, our campaign reached 1 million individual contributors

Just a short while ago, our campaign reached 1 million individual contributors — and we did it earlier than any campaign in history, including our own in 2016.

I am very proud of that fact. You should be too.

This is historic. We are also the only Democratic candidate with more individual contributions than Donald Trump, which shows we are the movement that can best defeat him.

Reaching this important milestone proves that one can run for president without racing all around the country begging millionaires and billionaires for campaign contributions at high-dollar fundraisers.

That number proves that when candidates for president speak honestly and authentically about the problems and the needs of working people and young people in this country, they will respond.

That is what we are doing on this campaign, and it is why we are going to win.

But winning this election will require more than just a record number of contributions — although that is certainly something we will need to continue to push for as we end this critical FEC fundraising quarter.

MEMO: The Path Ahead

As we enter the fourth quarter of 2019, I wanted to provide an update on the state of our campaign and lay out some of our thinking about the path ahead. We are excited about the next four and a half months, as Kamala prepares to hit the trail hard and lay out why she’s the best candidate in this race to prosecute the case against four more years of Donald Trump and build a broad coalition to win and unite this country.

Where We Are
This summer has been an important period on two key fronts: building our campaign infrastructure, and raising the resources necessary to kick that infrastructure into gear in the home stretch of this primary.

Kamala has consistently been the candidate voters want to know more about and hear from more. There is so much interest in her historic candidacy, and when voters get to know her better, they really like her. Her favorability is strong and durable, and she’s well-regarded across a broad demographic coalition. She’s been rock solid in the top five in this historically large and sprawling field from the very beginning, and is well-positioned to break through and win the Democratic nomination.

It’s about having face-to-face, one-on-one conversations with thousands of people.

Warren for President

On Monday night, after a big event in New York, we took about 4,000 selfies. It took about four hours to get through everyone.

Afterwards, reporters kept asking if we would stop the photo lines. They said surely we’d have to change how we run our town halls and events as our movement continues to grow.

But I said no.

You see, it’s not just about the pictures. It’s about having face-to-face, one-on-one conversations with thousands of people. Yeah, it took a while. I was there for four hours. But so was the last guy in line.

And after talking to 4,000 people in that line, you know the most common word I heard on Monday? Hope.

People said that they know what’s broken in our country, but they also know that we have a plan to fix it — and they believe in our power to make it happen.

We’re going to do this. We’re going to make Washington work for everyone, not just a thinner and thinner slice at the top.

But to make the big, structural change we need, it’s going to take a massive movement of millions of people pushing from the outside, and that takes real resources.

Sen. Schumer is wrong

A recent Monmouth University poll found that nearly 70% of Democrats support Beto’s mandatory buyback for assault weapons.

Beto for America

Yesterday, when asked about Beto’s bold plan for a mandatory assault weapon buyback, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said:

“I don’t know of any other Democrat who agrees with Beto.”

With respect to the Minority Leader, a recent Monmouth University poll found that nearly 70% of Democrats support Beto’s mandatory buyback for assault weapons. A Washington Post poll found 74% of Democrats support it.

Clearly, we need more Democrats who will lead, and a president who will take this head-on — but we won’t get that unless Beto is elected. Will you help us out by chipping in today?

When I’m president, I’ll make sure that workers are empowered again starting on Day One.

Friend,

My grandfather migrated from the Jim Crow South to Detroit, where he landed a union job on the assembly lines during World War II. My father grew up in a segregated mountain town in North Carolina but was able to lift himself and our family into the middle class.

For my family, and countless other workers in this country, the story was the same: if you work hard in America, America will work for you.

But today, for most people in this country, our economy is broken. While the stock market surges to record highs, middle-income families are being held back by stagnant wages and crushing debt.

Today, I’m releasing my plan to transform our economy to make it work for everyone, not just the wealthy few. Here’s how we do it:

1. Empowering workers to raise wages and improve working conditions by strengthening collective bargaining and supporting state and local efforts to protect workers.
2. Extending opportunity for all by fighting for a $15 minimum wage and overtime protections, providing paid time off when workers are sick or when they need to care for a loved one, and ensuring the ability to work without fear of discrimination or harassment.
3. Creating a fairer tax code for workers that rewards work over wealth by repealing the Trump tax cuts for the wealthiest families and largest corporations.

If you believe that we need to provide opportunity and justice for every American, add your name next to mine in supporting workers’ rights.

Love Does Not Look Away

Love Does Not Look Away

Jared Kushner said in an interview that he’d told his father-in-law a few years ago that there were a lot of angry people out there; that they could harness all that anger and make him president.

When I read those words I thought, I see a lot of wonderful, decent, loving people out there; we could harness all that and change the world.

That has been the guiding principle of my presidential campaign: that goodness, decency, and love must now be harnessed for political purposes.

Yet love is not a passive concept; it is only meaningful if it is active. Love can’t just be in our hearts; it has to show itself in our politics too.

First and foremost, love does not look away.

Love does not look away from the fact that 40 percent of all Americans live with chronic economic anxiety. See my economic policies.

Love does not look away from millions of traumatized American children. See my plan for a US Department of Children and Youth as well as Child Advocacy policies.
