Politico: GOP chances in CA-21 “look brighter”

“TJ

Here are three things you need to know about our race:

– The elections analysts at Inside Elections have downgraded TJ’s district from a “likely” Democratic seat to one that merely “tilts” Democratic — a strong shift in the Republicans’ direction.

– Last week, we got word that TJ’s opponent David Valadao outraised us by collecting nearly $60,000 from corporate PACs.

– Now, Politico is reporting that “Republican prospects now look brighter” in CA-21.

Republicans are desperate to notch a win in California, and they think TJ’s district might be their best opportunity to do just that. So we’re doing everything in our power to prepare right now.

Will you make a $10 donation to our campaign today? We’ll put your contribution right to work keeping CA-21 blue.

Central Valley Leadership Round Table (CVLRT) and Over 100 Leaders Across the Central Valley Endorse Esmeralda Soria for Congress

FRESNO, C.A.
Today, Esmeralda Soria announces another major endorsement from over 100 Central Valley leaders for her campaign for Congress in California’s 16th Congressional District, earning the support of the Central Valley Leadership Round Table.

“We need new leadership. We can’t support leadership that treats business as usual and want fresh eyes and ears,” said Central Valley Leadership Round Table. “We want someone who understands our issues and doesn’t just provide cosmetic solutions for bigger complex problems. We need to address affordable housing, educational and job opportunities throughout rural and urban communities. We believe the current incumbent has lost touch with these communities.”

Today, there are fifteen Congressional Districts with over 25% of the population living below the poverty line, a few of these districts are led by corporate Democrats who have served for years. One of these is California’s 16th district. My district.

After serving in the foreign service for eight years, I settled in California’s 16th district with my daughter only to find the same level of poverty I experienced in many of the developing nations I traveled and served in. The level of poverty in this district is unsustainable. Families, unable to maintain a sense of financial security, are choosing between healthcare and food.

For 14 years my opponent Jim Costa has accepted hordes of corporate cash from companies that could care less about the everyday lives of Jim’s constituents. I’m running to change this.

To have a strong middle class, we need strong unions, which is why I am so honored to have earned endorsements from IBEW Local 100, Sheetmetal Workers, Int’l Association 162, Carpenters 701 and Teamsters 431. Without a doubt, we need strong unions to fight growing inequality and strengthen the middle class.

I know that to ensure that all families have opportunities and bright futures here in the Valley, we need strong unions. I have worked closely with my brothers and sisters in labor to create thousands of local jobs and ensure that those jobs provide the living wage, health care and a pension that all families deserve. In Congress, I will continue to put the interests of our Central Valley families ahead of special interest.
