Beto O’Rourke just became the 16th Democrat to run for the Democratic nomination. (Hey, Beto!)
First, let’s just say out loud that it’s incredible to have so many passionate folks in this race, ready to fight for a better country.
But the reality is every new person in the race makes the potential debate stage more crowded.
We know that one way the DNC will decide who’s on that stage is how many individual donors each campaign has.
Most people I know haven’t decided which candidate they’re supporting. And there’s going to be plenty of time to decide.
The debates will play a central role not just in how this race shakes out, but in shaping the Democratic agenda for 2020. We need a healthy debate about big, bold ideas, and we need to tackle the hardest issues we face as a country head on. (Cory’s really, really good at that.)
You don’t need to know who you’re supporting to help decide which voices the nation hears from in this process.
Gotta run — thank you!
