STATEWIDE PROGRESSIVE ORG OF YOUNG PEOPLE JOINS LARA’S CAMPAIGN FOR INSURANCE COMMISSIONER

California Young Democrats Endorse Senator Ricardo Lara for California State Insurance Commissioner

LONG BEACH, CA — Kicking off the week with a major momentum building endorsement, today State Senator Ricardo Lara garnered the high-powered grassroots support of the California Young Democrats in his bid for California State Insurance Commissioner. The statewide organization joins the Contra Costa County Young Democrats and the Fresno County Young Democrats, both who recently backed Senator Lara’s campaign.

The California Young Democrats is the official youth arm of the California Democratic Party (CDP), with over 100 chapters representing tens-of-thousands of members statewide. They are the largest caucus within the California Democratic Party, and have hundreds of their members as elected or appointed Democratic State Central Committee members which will be voting on the official California Democratic Party endorsement in Lara’s state race at the CDP Convention next February.

In making their endorsement public, Eddie Kirby, President of California Young Democrats, released the following statement:

“California’s progressive young activists and leaders have spoken. Senator Ricardo Lara is our choice for California State Insurance Commissioner. He’s battle-tested, a fierce leader for the progressive movement, and his track record is unrivaled. The California Young Democrats are extremely pleased to endorse Ricardo Lara. He’s the bold leader we need fighting for consumers across our state.”
