Join Us: Antonio Villaraigosa Online Town Hall on Education

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

I know firsthand how a quality education can change the course of a life. I wouldn’t be where I am without public schools that gave me a second shot – and gave kids like me a chance to succeed. That’s why standing up for quality schools everywhere has been the cornerstone of my campaign for governor.

I’ll be hosting an online Town Hall on Education this Thursday, July 27 and want to hear from you! I’ll be answering your questions about the future of our state and the importance of making sure every child and family has equal access to an excellent public education.

WHAT: Online Town Hall on Education

WHEN: Thursday, July 27 from 12:00-1:00 pm

WHERE:
Your personal computer or mobile device (details to follow)

HOW TO JOIN: Please RSVP by signing up on our website; we will send you a link to join on the day of the event.

An equal shot at a quality education for all of our children is THE civil rights issue of our time. It isn’t just the right thing to do – if we don’t educate millions more skilled workers, we won’t be able to keep up with the changing economy.

I hope you can join me – if you have any questions about our Town Hall, please email me at voices@antonioforcalifornia.com.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Antonio

P.S. Feel free to forward this email to anyone you think would like to participate. And please don’t forget to RSVP by signing up for our Town Hall here.

Please add voices@antonioforcalifornia.com to your address book or safe senders list to make sure you always receive our emails.

They can’t take away our health care

Kamala Harris

A few moments ago the Senate Republicans advanced their cruel and heartless health care repeal bill. The fight is far from over and the last thing we should do is despair or throw our hands up — not when you consider that millions of people are poised to lose their health insurance or see their premiums skyrocket if this legislation is enacted.

As a society, we cannot play politics with fundamental rights. Make no mistake that access to affordable and meaningful health care should be thought of as a human right and civil right.

Collectively, as a coalition of elected officials, parents, children, and Americans who have a real stake in this fight, we have to ramp up up the pressure to make it clear that they can’t do this. They can’t take away our health care. It’s just plain wrong is what it is. We have to make sure they know that, so make sure you call your Senators at (202) 224-3121.

And if they continue to ignore our voices, then we’re going to have it make it clear that if you voted to take away our health care, then we’re going to vote and take away your job.

To all of you who have taken action during this fight: everything you have done has mattered. It’s extraordinary how this fight has progressed and how difficult it has been for the Republicans to get even this far. Your presence at town halls, marches, and your emails, letters, and tweets have mattered.

It’s important you know that. We can’t stop now. Millions of lives hang in the balance.

Let’s ramp up the pressure today and in the coming days before the final votes to close this out with a victory. Stay active. Stay engaged.

Thank you for your courage and your activism — for sharing your stories and for being a voice for millions of vulnerable Americans who couldn’t get involved in this fight, but deserve to be heard.

Keep up the pressure,

Kamala Harris
U.S. Senator, California
