Participating in the Candidate Forum were City Council District 1 candidates Mark Castro, Rama Dawar, Rebeca Rangel and Esmeralda Soria and City Council District 7 candidates Mauro Saldate and Mike Wells. District 1 candidates Lawrence Cano and Cary Catalano declined to participate, and District 7 incumbent Clint Olivier was absent. Kris Johnson Announces Candidacy for Congress

Longtime Granite Bay Democrat makes run for office against Tom McClintock.

Granite Bay, Calif. – Kris Johnson, a 25-year resident of Granite Bay, announced today that she will be a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in California’s 4th Congressional District.

“Over the past several years, I’ve become increasingly frustrated by how poorly our community has been represented in Congress,” Johnson said. “We deserve better than a career politician who promotes an extremist, partisan agenda. We can’t keep ignoring the needs of our district’s people and the care of cherished resources like Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, and the Stanislaus National Forest.”

“I come from a business background, where working in teams to solve problems is critical. In this past session of Congress, so much time was wasted, and so little work was done. It’s sad that Tom McClintock’s biggest accomplishment during this session has been successfully calling for a government shutdown that hurt our economy and working families. We need someone in Congress with a better sense of service to the community they represent. That is what I bring to this race.  The 2014 Congressional is our opportunity to get back on track as a land of opportunity and economic prosperity.”

Kris will be on hand to formally announce her candidacy in person at the Granite Bay Library, 6475 Douglas Blvd, Granite Bay, CA 95746 from 10:00 am until noon on Tuesday, January 28th.
