KamalaHarris

Yesterday afternoon, the Washington Post released shocking audio of Donald Trump outright bragging about sexually assaulting women and how his fame and wealth simply “let you do it.”

These comments are predatory and they make me sick. They are vile and Trump must be stopped.

You can’t frame this any other way — Trump is talking about sexual assault. He says he grabbed and kissed women without their consent and is now trying to chalk it up to “locker room banter.”

No one should be using these terms when talking about women, especially not someone who is running to be our next president. Donald Trump had long disqualified himself from this race through his bigoted, racist, and sexist agenda — and this should be the final straw for any Republican elected officials who still support him.

Washington is not a boys’ locker room. It’s a place where we need diverse leadership — including more women in public office — who will serve as role models for a generation of children that need to know sexual assault is wrong.

Commit that you will vote for Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris on November 8th and send a message that you won’t let candidates like Donald Trump win this election

ADD YOUR NAME

There is no excuse for these actions. We need to hold Trump accountable at the polls — and we need to continue pressuring his Republican supporters to do the right thing and abandon his candidacy.

Thank you for standing with us today.

– Kamala

Immediately, my heart goes out to those who have been subject to similar abuse. It is a disturbing way for the country to be forced to acknowledge that a woman is still, in these United States, subject to be treated as a possession by men. This is a new low. That this man—with a genuine shot at becoming the head of the most powerful country in the world—is capable of behavior such as this should be shocking, it is not. This is horrible but I am not shocked. It is consistent in its nastiness with other comments from this man. Finally, with knowledge of earlier statements, my opponent felt it was okay to invite this individual—his endorsed candidate—to this community, into our neighborhood. This revelation is therefore an indictment on the Congressman’s judgement as well.

Best regards,

A Blueprint for a Better Future

FRESNO—The Great Recession has ended, thanks to President Barack Obama, but for many the scars of an economy built for the benefit of the wealthy continues to make life difficult. The causes of this continued malaise are many and deep-rooted, but luckily Hillary Clinton has a lifetime worth of experience helping families, battling government bureaucracy and understanding the protections needed to prevent the 2008 crash from happening again.

Her expertise makes her the most qualified presidential candidate in recent memory to steer our ship of state through our increasingly interconnected global economy.

Clinton believes that things like financial security and being able to afford healthcare should not come down to luck. Too many families, people who were not fortunate enough to be born to millionaire parents or a life of golden parachutes, live in fear that they’re just one illness away from losing a job, one paycheck away from losing their home. That is why Clinton has convened experts from both parties to devise her plan to make an economy that protects those at the bottom and does not just make millions for those at the top.

As president, Clinton will work to provide the support that working families need—paid family leave, earned sick days and affordable, quality child care. Her debt-free college program will help people who came out of school with mountains of debt and a job market that did not want to hire them. Moreover, she will boost our economy by providing the largest investment in new jobs since FDR’s administration took us out of the Depression.

Clinton and her vice presidential nominee, Tim Kaine, have even published a book detailing their policy plans for the economy, foreign relations and national unity.

“The Clinton/Kaine team has laid out an impressive policy agenda designed to improve the lives of all Americans,” said Michael D. Evans, chair of the Fresno County Democratic Party. “Their blueprint will boost our economy, protect our citizenry at home and abroad, and move us beyond the gridlock that has stymied our national progress for far too long.”

Clinton has been working as a servant of the public good since she turned down a high-paying law firm job to help rural schoolchildren—more than four decades ago. And she is still working to help Americans in need. She is the only candidate who can be trusted to lead the country toward something better than it has ever been before.

The Fresno County Democratic Party is united behind Hillary Clinton for President. The official Coordinated Campaign headquarters is at 1035 U Street in downtown Fresno. To volunteer or for more information, contact 559-495-0606 or fresnocountydemocrats@yahoo.com.

The Debate: Derlet vs McClintock

Dear Supporter,

Congressman McClintock and I debated the issues this past Tuesday morning in Auburn. I am sending to you the key points I made in my closing statement:

  • Over 200 years ago, our Founding Fathers chose a federal system of government because they knew  that a strong central government would be necessary in a changing and challenging world.
  • Today, as we look beyond our borders and across the oceans we see just that.
  • My opponent, Tom McClintock and I differ on so many issues important to the future of our children and the future of this great country.
  • I want us to have a common sense government that insures a fair playing field for a free market economy and the people who live here.
  • My opponent wants small government, even if means handing over your rights to special interests.
  • We need a strong consumer finance protection bureau to protect your rights.
  • We need Congress to stop the price gouging by so many pharmaceutical companies.
  • We need open spaces in the Sierra Nevada to sustain these areas for a billion-dollar tourist economy.
  • My opponent votes to weaken clean water and air standards, which would harm our health and that of our children. Let us not forget what happened in Flint Michigan.
  • My opponent supports measures that decrease taxes on multi national corporations and the multi-millionaires, like the CEO of Wells Fargo. But don’t be fooled, what they don’t pay, you will pay.

The choice is yours; Do you what a Congress that writes the rules to favor special interests and take away your freedoms, or a Congress to write rules that will favor, benefit, and protect all of us.

Thank you

My name is Bob Derlet. Please assist our campaign and contribute.

Hillary For America Statement On U.S. Government Formally Naming Russia Responsible For Election-Related Hacks

John Podesta, Chair of Hillary of America, released the following statement Friday in response to the U.S. government formally naming the Russian government as responsible for recent hacks intended to interfere with the U.S. presidential election:

“The world now knows, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that the hack of the Democratic National Committee was carried out by the Russian government in a clear attempt to interfere with the integrity of our elections. The only remaining question is why Donald Trump continues to make apologies for the Russians. Trump’s initial reaction to the hack in July was to invite further intrusions by the Russians. Even after he was reportedly briefed on the very findings that were just announced publicly by U.S. government officials, he stood on a debate stage one week ago and played dumb about Russia’s role in this hack. He has repeatedly praised Vladimir Putin, outlined a list of pro-Putin policies, and has done hundreds of millions of dollars of business with Russian interests. Even his own running mate has criticized Putin yet Trump continues to refuse. It should concern every American that Russia is willing to engage in such hostile acts in order to help Donald Trump become President of the United States. But even worse, Trump’s own actions suggests he welcomes the help. If he wants to reassure American voters, he must not only acknowledge and condemn Russia’s role in this outrageous intrusion against U.S. interests, but he must finally disclose the full extent of his ties to Russia and divest any Russian-linked assets.”

Clarity Around Obvious Leadership

FRESNO—It is unfortunate that the media coverage of this presidential election has focused on dueling negatives. Almost a decade of inaction in Congress has pushed down public approval of our government to abysmal levels, and no experienced politician has been able to avoid being tarred by that brush.

The “alternative” choice is Donald Trump, a human avatar of the kind of profit-hungry and merciless big business that destroyed the world economy back in 2008. Frustrated voters might listen to the media and think that both choices are equally bad. However, if you look past the headlines, there is one strong, steady candidate who can do the job (Hillary Clinton) and one who is an inexperienced, unbalanced swindler who threatens all the principles our country holds dear (Trump).

Regardless of your personal opinions of Clinton, it cannot be denied that she has been the target of a constant stream of partisan political attacks for almost three decades. Ever since she became the chief advocate of the attempted Democratic healthcare reform plan in 1993, she has been accused of everything under the sun and hauled in front of countless hearings to smile at her detractors and answer their questions. Despite the endless accusations and name calling, she stoically addresses each and every concern.

The repeated Benghazi and State Department e-mail investigations have been an attempt to turn Clinton’s incredible strength in understanding our military and international security into a perceived weakness. However, she has withstood these attacks with confidence and expertise, whereas Trump has repeatedly broken down over jabs as small as quoting his insults about a beauty pageant winner.

“Temperament matters. Experience matters. Knowledge matters. Diplomacy matters. The U.S. President has the most critical and influential leadership role on the planet,” says Michael D. Evans, chair of the Fresno County Democratic Party. “We cannot put our children and grandchildren at risk by entrusting our future to a cocky and unbalanced amateur.”
