Re: Dianne Feinstein

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

rporate Democrat of them all. That’s amazing. But their campaign needs to raise about $10,618 more to pay for critical campaign infrastructure.

Goal thermometerAdd a $2.70 contribution right now to help Alison reach her goal and defeat Dianne Feinstein. 100% of your money goes directly to Alison’s campaign.

California is supposed to be a progressive state. It’s not right that we have a senator like Feinstein who votes with Trump one-third of the time. In a state where Medicare for All is extremely popular, Feinstein said ‘heck no’ and then one week later took campaign cash from the biggest healthcare lobbyists in the country.

Dianne Feinstein already has $4 million in the bank — even though she didn’t even know if she’d have a serious challenger. It’s going to take nothing short of a political revolution to give Alison a shot. The good news is, the Political Revolution is our specialty!

Alison’s campaign, on the other hand, is refusing corporate PAC money and will be 100% grassroots powered and funded. That’s why I’m reaching out again today to ask you to help Alison reach her goal. She needs to get to $147,000 by Monday to buy the voter file that will let her campaign volunteers start contacting primary voters.

Contribute right now to help Alison reach her goal.

If you’ve saved payment info with ActBlue Express, you won’t have to type in your credit card:

There’s nothing more important than getting this early funding if progressives want Alison to win. That’s why I’m emailing you right now. If you don’t get enough money right at the start, you can’t get access to the voter data through PDI. You can’t get your name and message out there.

Please, give whatever you can to help Alison win in California. Donate now.

The Momentum is Building! Ma Squad on the Road.

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

Fiona Ma

I am excited to announce that the California Teachers Association, which represents 325,000 educators in California’s public schools and colleges, has endorsed me for State Treasurer! CTA’s support was especially touching for me because of an amazing woman and educator I have looked up to my entire life: my mom.

Fiona and mom

That’s us the moment she heard the news that I’d earned CTA’s support. Needless to say, as a former substitute teacher and high school art teacher of 19 years, she was ecstatic! I’m honored to have CTA’s endorsement because they represent educators like my mom who selflessly devote their lives to preparing the next generation of Californians to be competitive and successful in today’s global economy

.SEIU Endorsement

I’m also excited to announce that I’ve been endorsed by SEIU California! SEIU CA represents over 700,000 Californians, including social workers, nurses, classroom aides, security officers, college professors, home care workers, janitors, and more. They fight every day to for the rights of working men and women throughout California, and I’m honored to have their strong support.

North Bay Fire Survivors and Fiona

With our state reeling from the intense wildfires last month, the Ma Squad was proud to support Senator Scott Weiner (D-San Francisco) and his team at the Redwood Empire Food Bank as they collected and distributed food and essential items to survivors of the North Bay fire. There was a line of cars waiting to pick up these items, and we were proud to be a part of this important humanitarian effort.

CA Conservation Corps

The California Conservation Corps is an integral part of fighting and containing fires in our state. My husband Jason Hodge (pictured above, second from left), is a Ventura County Firefighter and logistics specialist, and loves working with the youth at CCC. I was proud to meet these dedicated volunteers and am thankful for their service. For information on how to join the CCC, click here.

46th Annual Equity for All Dinner.

It was a privilege emceeing the 46th Annual Equity for All Dinner with San Francisco City and County Supervisor Malia Cohen. Here we are presenting the Harold T. Yee Lifetime Achievement Award to the Asian American Architects and Engineers.

Plumbers Pipefitters

Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 761 has a very impressive training center in Van Nuys! I had the opportunity to see a class review storm water capture rules and work with the tanks that store water, and meet welders in action. Here I am with superstar welder Sergio’s mask. Thank you Greg, Adolph, and Jaime for your hospitality, and thank you to Local 761 for the great work you do!

Fleet Week

What an honor visiting the USS Hornet during San Francisco’s fleet week. The USS Hornet has a rich and storied history defending our nation, and the exhibits here portray the sacrifices and determination our men and women in uniform have displayed in protecting the United States. Here I am sitting in the same seats where Top Gun pilots would have received their lessons and briefings!

Fiona at the Food Pantry

I was honored to lend my support to an amazing program, Cecelia’s Closet and Food Pantry. Cecelia’s Closet collects clothes for people in need throughout the year and at this event, helped ensure over 500 families got free clothes, haircuts and flu shots!

$3.2 Billion In Insured Losses From North Bay Fires So Far

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

2014TemplateHead3

Early last week I announced that $3.2 Billion in insurance claims have been filed for the North Bay fires so far.

$3.2 Billion.  The insured losses already claimed in Sonoma County alone are $2.8 Billion.  That makes the Sonoma County fires the most destructive in history — worse even than the Oakland Hills Fire.

The road to recovery for these communities will be long and painful.  43 people lost their lives.  4,712 homes were completely destroyed.  10,016 homes were partially destroyed.

We have deployed our consumer services team to Local Assistance Centers in each North Bay county hit by fires. Our team has already answered questions from over 1200 consumers about their insurance and their rights.

Insurers have agreed to my request that they adopt expedited claims handling procedures.  So far we have received a small number of consumer complaints, most of which we were able to resolve quickly by talking to the insurer.

If you are a fire victim or you know fire victims, let them know that they can contact the Department of Insurance consumer services hotline at 1-800-927-4357 with any questions or complaints.  Check out our Wildfire Resources page on our website for helpful information.

We have also deployed our law enforcement team to deter scam artists and others who prey on vulnerable fire victims.  Call us if you think someone is running a scam or trying to take advantage of a fire victim.

Thank you for the privilege of serving as Insurance Commissioner.

Sincerely,

DAVE JONES

Insurance Commissioner

Tom Perez: Making 2020 Transparent

Making 2020 Transparent

By DNC Chair Tom Perez

When I ran to serve as chair of the DNC following the 2016 election — a cycle unlike any other in American history — I knew that repairing our party’s structural flaws and healing the deep divisions among our supporters would not be easy. While we’ve made remarkable progress since last November, we still have a long way to go.

I am more committed than ever before to restoring voters’ faith in our democratic process because even the perception of impartiality or an unfair advantage undermines our ability to win. That is unacceptable.

To that end, the new DNC under my leadership is committed to the task of making sure that our 2020 nominating process will be unquestionably fair and transparent. And all the people I’ve brought on board since taking over as chair are working according to the following principles:

  • We believe that only through transparency and accountability can we rebuild the trust we need to win elections.
  • We believe that it’s critical to build an infrastructure that supports all candidates and helps Democrats win.
  • We believe that a party must listen if it seeks to lead.
  • We believe in the principle of equal opportunity for the American people and for our candidates in our party elections.

Of course, as any leader knows, principles only matter when they inform and inspire action. After listening to Democrats from every wing of our party, I’ve developed a series of concrete reforms to put our principles into action and guarantee that under my watch, the new DNC will work to rebuild trust with the people we represent. These principles are:

  1. To ensure that no candidate participating in our presidential nominating process gains any unfair advantage- real or perceived- during our primary season. We will decide the debate schedule in advance, instead of negotiating it after all our candidates have entered the race.
  2. I will ensure that any and all joint fundraising agreements will be transparent, including the new Democratic Grassroots Victory Fund agreements we’ve developed with all 50 state parties. This is the first time the DNC has signed joint fundraising agreements like this so early and before the mid-term elections.
  3. At all times, I will follow the rules established in the Charter and Bylaws of the Democratic Party, not least of all as they pertain to the selection of our nominee for president of the United States. If there are opportunities for the DNC to make changes to the Charter and Bylaws to be even more transparent, I will work with the DNC body to pass those changes.
  4. I will continue to support the Unity Reform Commission, whose goals are both to unify and reform the party we all love. We will work with the Unity Reform Commission to implement their collective recommendations for meaningful change in our party.
  5. I will continue working to reform and revive our party by empowering diverse grassroots Democrats at the leadership table. We will build on our recent successes with small-dollar fundraising. And we will reject contributions from corporate PAC donors whose goals conflict with our platform.
  6. In addition to committing to a transparent process, I will work with all members of the Democratic Party to make the 2020 process as inclusive as possible, including working to protect the right of every Democrat to make their vote and their voice heard in the primary process.
  7. I will work with our DNC members and progressive partners to ensure that the 2020 process is transparent, accountable, and representative of the will of rank-and-file Democrats

We should never confuse unity with unanimity, and it is my unequivocal goal to regain the trust of voters and unify and strengthen our party to ensure we can elect Democrats from the school board to the oval office. I will not rest in the fight to restore the faith of hardworking families in the political party I love.

50,000 signatures needed: Jeff Sessions must resign from office

Kamala Harris

Fresno County, sign if you agree: Jeff Sessions lied under oath about meeting with Russian officials. He should resign as Attorney General.

SIGN THE PETITION

Just a few months ago, Senator Kamala Harris was one of the first to call on Sessions to resign after shocking revelations that he misled Congress during his confirmation hearings about meetings with the Russians.

Additional court documents unsealed this week cast further doubt on Sessions’ testimony and he may be called back to Congress to testify under oath again. But already the damage to his credibility has been done. Sessions broke our trust and must resign immediately.

We want to collect 50,000 petition signatures this weekend calling on Sessions to resign. Can you add your name? Sign our petition today demanding Sessions resign for lying to Congress.

Thanks for all you do.

—Team Kamala

“A progressive who can count”

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

“Can you be both fiscally responsible and socially progressive?”

For John Chiang, the answer is a resounding “yes.” That’s why an op-ed in CityWatch last week praised him as “a progressive who can count” and “the only grown-up in the room.”

John knows that real leadership means more than big talk — it means delivering results. And California knows it too. That’s why John’s winning more support every day.

But to keep this momentum going, we need the resources to spread the word throughout the state.

Will you chip in $3 or more today and help John become the governor California needs now?

John’s ready to get things done for California as governor, just as he’s done as state treasurer and controller.

Now it’s time for us to get the job done and help him raise the resources to win this election.

Thanks for doing your part,

Team Chiang
