Community Meeting: Fresno City Council Redistricting Plan

From our friends at the Tower Exchange mailing list comes the following announcement:

Couniclmembers Blong Xiong and Oliver Baines invite you to join them Wednesday, July 20 @ 6 PM to veiw and discuss the proposed plans for redistricting the City Council.  We will me meeting at the Painted Table located at 1211 N Wishon (the old Daily Plante/Sambas building).

The Fresno City Manager and staff will be presenting maps and background on the proposed changes the the Fresno City Council Districts. How the Tower District is affected:

Olive Ave. remains a border between Dist 1 and Dist 3

The western border between Dist 1 and District 3 moves from Palm Ave to Echo. From Olive Ave to McKinley Ave will be represented by Dist 2.

The eastern border between Dist 7 and Dist 1/3 moves from the BNSF railroad to Blackstone Ave.  From Tulare to McKinley Ave will be represented by District 7

The City Council will review and vote on the proposed lines on Thursday, July 28.  This meeting will allow you to make any comments or suggestions you feel will assist staff and council to provide the most equitable distribution of residents.
