In recent days, Senator Hernandez’ campaign has been on a roll, securing a wave of new grassroots support, as well as a series of high-powered endorsements from working families, including the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU) Locals 13, 63 and 94, along with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California State Council and the California Teachers Association (CTA). Beyond today’s news, Senator Hernandez has raked-in endorsements from over 50 labor unions.

Significantly, recently California Governor Jerry Brown signed Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez’ groundbreaking drug transparency bill, SB-17, into law.  Senator Hernandez’ latest digital video ad, titled, “Life or Death,” features a moving testimonial from Kendall Renee, who is allergic to more than 95% of foods and carries at least four EpiPens with her at all times. Renee highlights Senator Hernandez’ efforts to combat skyrocketing drug costs in the ad.

Unshaken by big moneyed special interests, Hernandez not only has taken on Big Pharma but also fought Big Tobacco, as the architect of California’s landmark law to raise the state’s smoking age to 21.

In addition to today’s news, as of the June 30, 2017 fundraising deadline, Senator Hernandez had raised over $2 million for the statewide effort and has locked in far-reaching support across California.

Several months back, Senator Hernandez released his first digital video, titled  “A California Story,” which can be viewed by clicking on the screen image below:

Beyond today’s announcement, Senator Dr. Hernandez’ campaign has released an expansive list of over 500 endorsements from grassroots activists, community leaders, federal, state and local elected officials, public safety groups and over 50 labor unions.

A husband, father, grandfather, practicing optometrist, and local businessman, “Dr. Ed” (as he is known to his patients) has spent his life bringing quality eye care to predominantly low-income communities.  As a health care provider, the need to improve access to health care for all Californians is what first drove him to run for office.

Since being elected to the Assembly in 2006 and the Senate in 2010, Dr. Ed Hernandez has been a leader on the implementation of federal health care reform – helping expand access to affordable health care, control costs, and improve the network of providers so people can actually get quality care when they need it. Dr. Ed has been a champion by expanding educational opportunity to qualified students overlooked by our public schools and universities, as well as a major proponent for government reform, including fixing a broken initiative system too often hijacked by billionaires and wealthy corporations. Dr. Ed Hernandez is running to take this experience, leadership, and vision to the next level by serving the people of California as their Lieutenant Governor.

Fighting tirelessly for Californians

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

Alex Padilla

We’re excited to announce U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein and the majority of the California Democratic Congressional delegation have endorsed Secretary Alex Padilla in his re-election campaign for California Secretary of State.

These members are our leaders in Congress who are fighting tirelessly for Californians. We’re humbled and thrilled with their endorsement of Secretary Padilla.

This announcement is huge! Join Senator Feinstein and these members of Congress in supporting Secretary Padilla by making a $3 contribution today.

Since 2015, Secretary Padilla has made remarkable strides in making it more convenient for eligible Californians to register and vote. He has aggressively promoted online voter registration, sponsored the New Motor Voter Act, sponsored the Voters Choice Act, and, this year, launched online pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-olds so that they can vote as soon as they turn 18. With Trump in office, we know that expanding voter rights isn’t always easy. But Secretary Padilla has been on the front lines defending the right to vote against attacks at the national level. And he was quick to say, “No” to the President’s Advisory Commission on Election Integrity when they requested the personal information for all California voters.

We are so excited to have the support of Congressman Pete Aguilar, Congresswoman Nanette Barragan, Congresswoman Karen Bass, Congressman Ami Bera, Congresswoman Julia Brownley, Congressman Salud Carbajal, Congressman Tony Cardenas, Congresswoman Judy Chu, Congressman Lou Correa, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Congressman Jared Huffman, Congressman Ro Khanna, Congressman Ted Lieu, Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren. Congressman Alan Lowenthal, Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, Congressman Brad Sherman, Congressman Eric Swalwell, Congressman Mark Takano, Congressman Mike Thompson, and Congresswoman Norma Torres.

Secretary Padilla has always fought for Californians and we’re so grateful that California’s Congressional representatives are taking notice. But we need your help to build on this momentum and execute a winning campaign in 2018. Michael, can we count on you to make a $3 contribution to Secretary Padilla’s reelection campaign?

Thank you for your continued support.

Thank you,

Team Padilla

What a Year

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

Just a year ago, I launched my campaign for governor because there are too many families in California doing absolutely everything right and still falling behind. I’m running for governor because I know that to thrive as a state – and to restore the luster to the California dream – we have to make sure that we’re growing together.

We’ve made so much progress. And the polls show our incredible momentum. But I can’t do it alone. I hope you will join our campaign by making a contribution today.

This past year, I have been traveling up and down our great state and hearing the powerful personal stories of Californians. Time and again, I’ve heard how much Californians love their state, but know that we have to do so much more to keep the California dream alive for everyone.

We have many months to go, but I’m energized and committed to continue to give voice to every Californian. I hope you will add your voice by contributing to our campaign today.

Thank you,

Antonio

P.S. We are very quickly approaching our next fundraising deadline, and I need your support now more than ever. Please contribute today!

Senator Hernandez bested all other Lt. Governor candidates, winning close to 10% more than his nearest competitor in the statewide vote.

Upon rolling out the new collection of endorsements, Senator Hernandez released the following statement:

“It’s an honor to have such wide-ranging support in my campaign for Lieutenant Governor. As I crisscross the state and meet with grassroots activists, young people, neighborhood and local leaders in all corners of the state, it’s incredibly encouraging to see and hear from everyday folks and community leaders that our message of continuing California’s bold progress on job creation, healthcare access, environmental protection, equal rights, immigrant rights, civil rights, and more, is clearly resonating. I’m grateful for their support.”

Just last Friday Senator Hernandez earned a high-profile endorsement from Los Angeles City Council President and former California State Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson.

Veterans

The Fresno County Democratic Central Committee has not endorsed any candidate in this race.

California has a special responsibility to veterans — more veterans live in our state than any other state in the country.

But because veterans make up a smaller portion of our population than other states, their contributions and needs are too often overlooked.

Veterans own hundreds of thousands of businesses across our state. They work hard, pay taxes, teach our children, serve our families in hospitals and clinics, and make our state stronger — all after committing themselves to the difficult job of protecting our nation in the armed services.

We can never repay the debt we owe to our veterans, but we can do better in how we treat them and how our government serves them — something I’ve committed myself to as an elected official.

As state controller, I worked with the California Department of Veterans Affairs on an initiative to reunite 95,000 California veterans and their families with $36 million in lost or unclaimed property, including paychecks, medals, and purple hearts.

When Wells Fargo overcharged veterans who took part in a federal mortgage-refinancing program, I took action and extended sanctions against Wells Fargo in order to bring them in line with the law.

There’s still so much more that we must do. As governor, I’ll work tirelessly to ensure our state serves veterans with dignity and respect, whether they served decades ago, or are just returning from service overseas.

But today, on Veterans Day, I simply want to say thank you to each of you who served. You have my gratitude always.

John
